As salaamu ‘alaikum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh.
They’re only ones happy to see/trying to play with rabid alley cats while the locals (even the small children) look on in utter shock and disbelief.

lol….that is sooo funny. I remember my husband when we were driving by one of the dumpsters (where the cats hang-out), he just stopped the car and we watched the cats for a while (alhamduliLlaah it wasn’t a busy street). Then when he saw the cats fighting, he wanted to get out of the car to help the little cat from the big and mean ones. lol…he said that insha’Allaah one of these days, he wants to write a poem about the cats of Saudi Arabia (or Jeddah at least).

SubhannaALlah. I love cats and have them in my home and mine are the sweetest…it was quite the opposite for them(the haywaan)—upon my Moroccan friend and Pakastani friend coming to my house, my cat was greeted by bloodcurdling screams, whilst the skirted ladies leaped on my couch. My cat quickly fled the room, not to come out for hours. I learned to put the cat on the balcony or in the bedroom when I knew “company” was coming. I also heard that there are packs of wild Persians in Saudi that they are beautiful but feral and yes, the Saudis are afraid of them. Sad. There are many hadeeth about the kindness to animals and reward thereof. For instance the man who gave water to the thirsty dog and ALlah forgave his sins, as well as the opposite hadeeth of the lady who tied up her cat and starved it to death. I remember her punishment vaguely but I dont want to say without certainty. Remebering this, I remember an article I read in my local newspaper about a city in Ethopia being given some status now as one of the oldest places and people can go there and build without taxes (like Sa’naa ’s status) anyway, there was a picture of a little masjid on top of a hill grown with a tree that had completly grown into it and a (muslim) man who fed the wild hyenas from his hand like “they were obediant kittens”

Wa ‘alaikumus salaam wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh.
Oum Mohammad – Some are rabid, so be very careful. And yes, they are beautiful. Every now and again I’ll treat them to some hot dogs (smiles), but sometimes that turns into a big brawl, so I’ll save a chunk for the little kittens and feed them while the others are busy duking it out.
Umm Sakina, your comment is quite interesting. Jazaakillaahu khairan for sharing!
